How do you start telling a story or the story that occurs to you like a fairy tale but which turned out to be really true.
It is a story that for the one or another closely involved seems to be like a vision today after 40 years. However, it is a story that can tell stories.

For over 20 years the Festival was able to become accepted despite the political desires in the former GDR and was able to keep its independence carried by the joy of both audience and makers.

We accomplished things with the reunification that we hadn‘t expected in our most vivid dreams. We were able to maintain the Festival despite financial struggles and shortages and its side-effects up to the 40th Festival.

In the meantime, the Festival has developed to one of the biggest, continuous and oldest traditional Jazz Festivals in Europe.

The recipe of success: Many creative participants who dedicate their free-time to comply with our high aims. Thank you to all assistants and participants who put all their strength and efforts into the continuity of the International Dixieland Festival.
