Smarter, stronger, tougher: The perfect outboard for tenders, dinghies and daysailers has become even better.

For many of our customers, the Travel is the defi nitive Torqeedo outboard. While its lightness, strength and effi ciency were loved by all, we were frequently asked to come up with a non-foldable, more rugged version. This is what we have done. And while we were at it, we have equipped it with more power, even higher effi ciency, more battery capacity, and our onboard-computer including GPS
and real-time range calculation.

With the foldable and flexible CIGS solar panel (available as an optional extra) you can charge your Travel battery any time – even during operation. If you charge your battery during operation the real-time range calculation located in the tiller will of course take that effect into consideration. The panel weighs not more than 1.6 kg, unfolded it covers an area of about 1 m².

Torqeedo Cruise 4.0 RL , The new standard of powerful electric outboards

We developed our new Cruise R series for boats, which are controlled with remote steering and remote throttle, as well as for sailboats steered with a rudder.
Our Cruise R models come with substantial improvements: The fact that we already supplied the best overall efficiency on the market didn´t stop us from going even further. Our new models achieve efficiency rates of 51 %, which means over half of the energy supplied by the batteries is transformed into propulsive power (measured after all losses, including propeller losses). In addition, we have made the motor even more robust.

The Cruise R can stand even a temporary complete submersion under water without taking any harm. Also, we have integrated a GPS receiver and an information system, so you always know how much battery power and remaining range you have. Finally, we made the motor even more powerful. The Cruise 4.0 R has the propulsive power of an 8 horsepower combustion engine in displacement drive and the thrust power of a 9.9 hp outboard motor.

The BaseTravel 401 model works with a voltage of 12 V, whereas the BaseTravel 801 model is operated at 24 V. A cable connection for standard lead batteries with integrated fuse is contained within the scope of delivery. Similar to the battery of the Travel model, the removable cable adapter serves as main switch of the BaseTravel model. A bridging cable is also delivered for serial connection of two lead batteries to each other (for BaseTravel 801).

With the thrust force of a 6 HP combustion engine, the Torqeedo Cruise is the emission-free alternative for sailing and motor boats with displacement of up to three tons. Equipped with the latest torque technology, an optimized drive train and an optimized propeller, the Torqeedo Cruise is not only the most efficient but also the most powerful 24-volt outboard available on the market.

The Cruise gets its energy either from lead batteries that have been connected in series (normally two 12 V batteries) or from the Torqeedo Power, lithium-based batteries.

When using lead batteries within the power range of the Cruise, the efficiency of a drive is important for two reasons. On the one hand, an efficient drive converts the used energy better

into propulsive force. A high efficiency of the drive additionally ensures that more battery capacity is available for consumption: The more efficient a drive is, the more it prevents the effectively available battery capacity from being reduced due to unnecessarily high power intake (compare here the Background Knowledge on Calculating the Range of Electric Motors as well as the chapter on Battery Technology).

Due to the extraordinary efficiency of the Cruise, it wastes comparably little energy but its input power of 2,000 Watt is challenging to the lead battery supply. To compensate for the high-current characteristics and the loss of capacity of lead batteries concomitant to this, it is recommendable that you purchase lead batteries with comparably „good“ high-current characteristics as well as high rated capacities (ideally 4,800 Wh, i.e. two times 12 V / 200 Ah or higher rated capacities; compare Background Knowledge on Calculating the Range of Electric Motors).
