Historians and aficionados of the Rolls-Royce post-war Phantoms now have the ultimate “Reference Book”. To collect detail-information and photographs from many sources must have been an exhaustive task. One can only admire the considerable work put in by the author to achieve this outstanding result. Phantom IV, Phantom V and Phantom VI were the three Phantom models built by Rolls-Royce in the period after World War II. Spanning over some four decades from the early 50ies into the 90ies less than 1,000 cars all in all were built. Every single one from this rare breed is a reminder of a by-gone era in which bespoke, hand-built motor cars of this special type were once made. The Rolls-Royce Phantoms were amongst the last cars from Rolls-Royce to receive custom bodies. Although the number of coachbuilders had dwindled there were well-known names such as H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward, Hooper and James Young in the UK and known only to cognoscenti perhaps foreign coachbuilders like Chapron and Franay from France and Frua from Italy. The book finishes with excellent appendices, the author did act in conjunction with "listologist" Bernard L. King to list in detail every Phantom built during this time.
