Had Mr. Fox Talbot in 1833 not had the brilliant idea to convert (on paper) silver nitrate with salt to silver chloride, we would certainly not be in the fortunate position today to produce salt prints as such, and this in infinite variations. The salt print was the first silver picture produced at all; a revolution that inspires people until today. Not without reason, because the salt print with its endless varieties of browns belongs to the finest alternative prints. It is therefore not surprising that today, after almost 200 years , it is experiencing a vital renaissance.
