Stitch Markers

Stitch markers and progress keepers are useful little helpers.

They can be used to mark a certain number of stitches, a pattern repeat, the beginning of a round, a certain row and more.

MarkerThere are two categories of stitch markers: closed and open.

Closed stitch markers sit on the needle between two stitches. That helps you to see where to make a particular stitch like an increase or decrease. You can also mark the beginning of a round or pattern repeat. Simply slip the marker from the left to the right needle to keep it in the same position.

Open stitch markers or progress keepers are incredibly versatile for knitters and crocheters. You can add and remove them at any time. When you attach one of those progress keepers to a single stitch, you can easily count the rows you knit or crochet. And if you want, you can also attach them on the zipper pull of a project bag :-)
