The dried rhizome: thick irregular ge- shaped, roundish pieces; 3-13 cm long, 1,5-7 cm in diameter
Surface: yellowish-grey or grey-brown
Consistency: hard, heavy, breakable
Fracture: uneven, yellowish-white to pale brown coloured
Over the fire of dried roots hornart- solution of fracture, are darker colored, and often cracked. Odour: aromatic, refreshing;
Taste: sweet & slightly spicy, chewing slimy
