The dried rhizodermis or bark of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle.
The root cortex is found in irregular, sometimes curled, discs. These disks are 0.1-1.0 cm thick and
have a coarse cracked, gray-yellow or yellow-brown colored surface.
The inside is pale yellow and has numerous tightly arranged holes.
The drug has a hard and brittle consistency.
Taste: bitter
Odor: weak
